Had to pick between a compost tumbler and a worm bin for my apartment balcony

I was dead set on getting a compost tumbler because it seemed easier, just spin it and forget it. But my neighbor let me see her worm bin last week and I changed my mind right there. She showed me how the worms eat through kitchen scraps in like 2 weeks and it barely smells at all. I went with the worm bin and after 10 days I've already got castings for my pepper plants. Has anyone else had luck with worms in a small space?

My tumbler sat there three months before it finally did anything.

That's wild, @cole_baker. Three months is basically a relationship commitment at that point. I had a similar thing happen with a snake plant once where it just sat there looking dead for almost half a year. Then one day I knocked it over by accident and found out it had been growing roots like crazy underground the whole time. Most people would have tossed it after a month but I was too lazy to deal with it. Sometimes plants and tumblers just need to marinate in their own time I guess.
