I called the 5 second rule gross for 20 years, then I watched my own toast land butter side up on a clean plate
My buddy Dale dropped a piece of dry toast on his kitchen floor in Boise last week and ate it without a blink, and I gave him a hard time about germs like I always do. Then I got home and my own toast flipped off the counter, landed butter side up on a plate I had just washed, and I ate it because the plate was clean and the floor never touched it. So now I am wondering, is the 5 second rule really about time, or is it more about whether the thing lands on something that was already clean?
