Just realized I stopped checking the sky before bed and started checking it in the morning instead
For a long time my night routine was to step out on the porch around 10pm and look up. I figured that was when the sky was darkest so I'd see more. Then last month my neighbor Ray, who's 74 and has lived here in Tucson his whole life, told me the best time to look is actually about an hour before sunrise. He said the air is calmer and there's less junk floating around, and the stars look steadier. So I tried it. Set my alarm for 4:45am on a Tuesday, went outside with coffee, and honest to god the difference was real. The stars weren't twinkling as much and I could actually make out the shape of things I'd been squinting at for months. Now I do it every clear morning before work. Does anyone else notice the sky looks different depending on the time, or am I just making this up in my head?
