My granddad told me to "never trust a quiet dog" and he was right about my neighbor's lab

Last summer my neighbor got this big yellow lab that never barked, just sat by the fence staring at my garden. Granddad said that dog was watching and waiting, and sure enough three weeks later it dug under the fence and ate all my tomatoes in one afternoon. Anyone else have old family advice that actually turned out to be spot on?

Man, I feel that. My old man used to say "watch out for the one who never raises his voice" and I brushed it off until a quiet coworker ended up being the biggest backstabber at the place. Sometimes the loud ones are all bark and the quiet ones are the ones actually planning something. Hope your garden recovered alright.
