Nearly got stranded at Yosemite last weekend because I trusted my phone GPS

I was hiking the Mist Trail and my phone said the shuttle would come every 15 minutes. I stood at the stop for 45 minutes watching three packed busses fly past because they were already full. The ranger told me the actual schedule is every 30-40 minutes in peak season and the app never updates. Ended up walking 2 miles in the dark back to the lot. Has anyone else had a park app or GPS give them bad info at a National Park?

My buddy's GPS took him down a closed forest road near Glacier once, ended up stuck for hours.

Ugh, "took him down a closed forest road" is the exact thing that gets people in trouble out there. I've learned the hard way to always download offline maps on my phone before heading into areas with spotty service, because GPS apps love routing you through stuff that's not even passable. Honestly, I keep a paper map in my glovebox too for places like Glacier, it's saved me more than once when my phone died and I had no clue where I was.
