10 years ago I hand-painted signs, now I just type into Canva
Honestly, back in 2014 I used to spend weekends painting storefront signs with a brush and enamel for extra cash. Took me like 6 hours to do a 4-foot window sign - cost the shop $80 but I loved how the letters had life. Now I slap together a sign in 20 minutes on Canva and charge $200, but it feels hollow. Does anyone else miss the craft even though the money is way better now?

Honestly, scaling back and doing the occasional custom job for old clients helped me remember why I started. It's nice to have the easy money, but I keep one brush project a month just for me.

Built up a secret wall of loyalty over the years doing that too. Those old clients end up being your best word of mouth anyway.

Wait, you actually do one brush project just for you each month? I used to think that was a waste of time but now I get it. That's smart, keeping the joy in it without burning out.
