Bought a good floor jack for $200 and it saved my back in one afternoon
I was using this old scissor jack from my trunk to do brake jobs on the side. Spent $200 on a real low profile floor jack from Harbor Freight and finished a job in half the time without feeling wrecked. Anyone else put off buying a simple tool that ends up changing how you work?

That undersized jack was a backbreaker waiting to happen (seriously). Best $200 ever.

My buddy Mike threw a jack through his trunk floor on a '98 Civic last summer. Thing was this little scissor jack from a junkyard, barely held the car up. He was under there trying to get a spare on when the whole thing just buckled and the car dropped onto the rotor. Bent the control arm and his back was sore for a week. He still jokes that the $200 he spent on a proper floor jack was the cheapest chiropractor bill he never had to pay.

Wait his back was sore for a WEEK and the car landed on a rotor?! Man, that could've been so much worse. I bet that sound of metal buckling is something he still hears in his head sometimes.
