My mentor said my code reads like a diary, took me 2 weeks to fix my style

I work as a dev during the day but I run a small game mod project at night. Last month my mod team lead looked at my scripts and said 'nobody wants to read your thought process, they want to see the logic.' It stung but he was right, I was leaving in all my failed attempts and random comments. I rewrote everything with cleaner functions and less noise. Now someone else can actually pick up my work without asking me 10 questions. Anyone else get feedback that made you redo everything but you're glad you did?
