My uncle's 2 AM call about his warehouse job changed my mind on hustle culture

He's 58 and works nights unloading trucks in Columbus for $19 an hour, and last Tuesday he told me he had zero interest in finding a 'passion' or climbing any ladder. He said, 'I clock in, I lift boxes, I go home, and I actually sleep better than you do with your side projects and certifications.' I've spent 11 years as a retail manager trying to turn every hobby into income, and honestly, my uncle's the one who seems less burned out. Seeing him content with a job that pays the bills while I chase 'fulfillment' made me question if my whole mindset is backwards. Has anyone else had a relative or friend make them feel like the boring paycheck is actually the win? What's your line between a job you tolerate and a life you actually live?

Tbh the real flex might be that your uncle's job ends when he clocks out, while your hustle follows you into the shower and Sunday mornings. That's the line I keep coming back to, some jobs are just walls between you and your actual life, not the life itself.

Nodding hard at this. My buddy works at a factory and when that bell rings he's gone, no emails, no stress. Meanwhile I'm checking my phone at 11pm wondering if I should reply to a client. Some people get paid to leave, I get paid to never really leave. Makes me wonder if I'm building a life or just building someone else's dream.
