Picked a late night walk over sleep after a 12 hour shift
Got off at 7 AM, was dead tired, but chose to walk 2 miles along the river instead of crashing into bed. My brain finally quieted down after the third loop around the park bench. Has anyone else found that one weird habit that actually helps you switch off from the day job?

Wait, @bennett.evan, have you ever actually tried that whole "sitting still with no phone" thing after a 12 hour shift yourself? Because I did once and it just made me focus on how BAD my back hurt from standing all day. That river walk sounds like a solid move honestly. I got the same thing with driving the long way home after a tough day - just cruising back roads with no music for 20 minutes lets my brain untangle itself. Calmer than sitting still for me cause my body's doing something while my mind checks out. Different strokes though, whatever gets you to that off switch is what matters.

I actually think that just keeps the adrenaline going and makes it harder to truly shut down your nervous system long term. Maybe try sitting still for five minutes with no phone first and see if that doesn't do more to reset your brain after a brutal shift.
