Serious question: how do you switch off the PM brain when you're on a jobsite that's not yours?
I found out last week that I spend about 30% of my weekend just mentally critiquing other people's work when I'm out grabbing coffee or at a friend's place. Saw a window frame in a new build downtown that was clearly flashed wrong and I couldn't stop thinking about it for two hours. How do you guys keep the day job from bleeding into every walk you take or every building you walk into? Is this just how it is once you've done this long enough?

I used to think you could just leave work at the door, but after catching myself mentally redesigning the menu layout at a diner last week, I think that ship has sailed for good.

Read somewhere that brain scientists call it "work spillover." Like your brain just keeps running the software even after you clock out. @sage308 I bet that diner menu was a mess before you fixed it in your head though. Still, kind of depressing when you're grading spreadsheet columns instead of watching TV at night. Happens to me with receipts at random grocery stores.

Do you really think redesigning a menu in your head is that bad though? Like it's not like you're actually working, you're just thinking about work. That's pretty normal.
