The night shift lighting trick that fixed my hobby time
I drive nights for a living, and I kept falling asleep on my wood carving bench after work. Tried coffee, tried music, nothing worked until I swapped my garage lights from cool white to warm 2700K bulbs three weeks ago. Turns out my brain was reading the blue light as 'keep working' when I needed to wind down, not wake up. Anyone else find their hobby space lighting fights their day job schedule?

That bit about your brain reading blue light as "keep working" is close, but it's actually backwards for your situation. Blue light tells your brain to stay alert, sure, but the real trick is that warm light lowers your melatonin suppression, which is what helps you feel sleepy. So it's not that your brain was fighting your schedule, it's that the cool bulbs were blocking the chemical that should have been building up after your shift. You fixed it the right way, but the reason is more about hormone timing than a direct fight between the lights and your job. Warm light just lets your body do what it already wants to do after a night of driving. Glad it worked for you, because that falling asleep at the bench thing is no joke.
