I dropped $180 on a heated vest and it saved my winter commute

So I live in Buffalo and was spending November freezing on my motorcycle ride to work. I finally bought a heated vest off Amazon and wired it into my bike's battery. First ride with it was 22 degrees out and I stayed warm the whole 45 minutes. Has anyone else tried heated gear for commuting or is it just me?

My buddy Ryan tried one of those for his snowmobile trips up in the Adirondacks... hooked it up wrong the first time and blew the fuse on his whole snowmobile, had to get towed back to the truck. He got it sorted out though and now swears by it, says he can ride for hours without that bone-deep cold settling in. Definitely worth the hassle if you ask me.

Oh come on man, "worth the hassle" is a stretch lol. Blowing a fuse on your whole snowmobile because you hooked it up wrong? That's not a hassle, that's a disaster waiting to happen. If you mess it up you're stuck in the middle of nowhere freezing your butt off waiting for a tow. I'd rather just layer up properly and deal with the cold than risk turning my sled into a paperweight because I wanted to be a little warmer. Plus those things drain your battery if you're not careful, and then you're stuck with a dead sled and no heat at all. Seems like a lot of extra stuff to buy and fiddle with when a good jacket and some hand warmers do the job just fine.

@blair_taylor32 Most new sleds have a dedicated plug for heated gear so you don't mess with the battery.
