My foreman told me I was wasting time by cleaning brushes with mineral spirits instead of soap and water, and now I finish 20 minutes earlier every shift.

He said the mineral spirits don't break down the latex fully and I was just smearing dirty paint back on, so I switched to dish soap and a wire brush, and my bristles look new after 3 months now has anyone else gotten paint advice that totally flipped their routine?

Wait, dish soap is great for cleaning latex but you gotta be careful with wire brushes. They can roughen up the bristles over time and cause fraying. I use a brush comb or just my fingers to work the soap in, keeps the bristles smooth longer.

Yeah, that wire brush comment is spot on... I ruined a good brush that way before I learned to just use my fingers.

Totally agree, dish soap and fingers are the way to go. Wire brushes tear up bristles way too fast.
