My friend's 8 year old called me out on my plastic water bottle habit
I was over at my buddy Mike's house last weekend helping him set up his new TV stand. His daughter Lily walks up to me and asks why I'm drinking out of a single use bottle when I could just use their tap water. I laughed it off at first but then she wouldn't let it go. She told me her class learned about how those bottles take 450 years to break down in a landfill. I honestly hadn't thought about it that way since I just grab a pack of 24 for like $4 at the grocery store. Now I'm looking at those metal bottles at Target and trying to figure out if spending $15 on one is worth it. Has anyone else had a kid make you rethink your daily habits like that?

Starts making me wonder how many other things we just do without thinking, you know? It's like we get so used to convenience that we forget there's even a choice to make sometimes. Kids see straight through all that noise we create for ourselves.

Used to think those metal bottles were just a trend, but hearing that 450 year fact from a kid really hit different. Made me grab a reusable one the next day and I don't regret it at all.

Man, that kid is going places. It's wild how kids can just call you out without any filter, you know? I had a similar thing happen with my nephew who got on me about not recycling my soda cans. Pissed me off at first cause I felt judged, but then I realized he was right. The tap water thing is legit too - most places have perfectly good water. That $15 bottle will pay for itself after like 4 packs of bottles anyway.
