Question about whether a $30 bread maker can actually compete with a $300 one

I picked up a used Sunbeam bread maker at a thrift store in Phoenix for $30 two months ago, and the loaves come out just as good as my neighbor's fancy Zojirushi. Has anyone else found that the price gap on these things is mostly just hype?

My neighbor Bob bought a $350 Breadman and it broke down in ten months. His wife now borrows my $30 thrift store Sunbeam every weekend. I told him what @phoenix246 said about theirs lasting two years, but he just grumbled about the warranty. The cheap ones seem built like tanks, honestly.

@phoenix246's experience is spot on - my aunt's $25 thrift store Sunbeam has been running for like 8 years straight. Bob probably paid for the fancy display screen and not the actual mechanics.
