Spent $800 on a high-end dehumidifier for my basement last year
It pulled out 2 gallons a day for three months straight and now my mold problem is completely gone, has anyone else had that kind of luck or did I just get lucky?

oh yeah, totally. i bought one of those mid range ones a few years back and it was a total dud, just made the room feel slightly less damp lol. my friend had a similar one as yours and after a month she said her basement actually smelled fresh for the first time, not like old socks and dirt.

I read somewhere that those high-end ones really do work better than the cheaper models... something about the compressor being stronger. Sounds like you got your money's worth if it pulled out that much water.

Totally get what you're saying. Honestly, it's one of those things where you don't realize how much you need a good one until you're dealing with a damp basement or a musty closet. Ngl, I tried a cheap one first and it barely pulled anything, felt like a total waste. The difference in the compressor really does make or break how much moisture it can yank out of the air. Glad you're seeing the results, must feel good knowing you didn't just throw cash at a fancy box.
