Standing desks are overrated compared to a good walking pad

I bought a fancy standing desk last year for $400 and ended up with sore feet and lower back pain after two months. Swapped it out for a $200 walking pad under my old regular desk and now I walk three miles each day while working. Has anyone else found a simple movement setup that beats the hype?

Oh wait, that's actually a different situation though. A walking pad is more like light movement while a treadmill is usually for actual running or brisk walking, big difference in intensity and calorie burn. Plus the weight loss likely came from her eating differently too, not just the movement alone. Standing desks do have their place for some folks but yeah, they're definitely not the miracle solution people make them out to be.

My neighbor swapped her standing desk for a treadmill and dropped 15 pounds.

That "miracle solution" thing hits the nail on the head. Seems like everything from meal kits to meditation apps gets sold as the one fix for all our problems, when really it's just about finding what fits your particular life and being honest about how it works for you.
