That keto advice from my trainer cost me 6 weeks of progress
My trainer told me to cut all carbs to drop weight fast. After 6 weeks of feeling like garbage and losing muscle, my doctor said my cortisol was through the roof from no carbs. Has anyone else had a trainer push a diet that backfired?

Six weeks is rough... my cousin did the same thing with her CrossFit coach and ended up in the ER with a panic attack because her electrolytes were so messed up. She was eating like 30 grams of carbs a day and doing those hard workouts, and her body just freaked out. Took her like two months to get her sleep and energy back to normal after she added fruit and rice back in.

Yeah but 30 grams of carbs is pretty standard for a strict keto diet, it's more about the refeed timing and electrolyte balance than just the carb count. I mean if she was doing CrossFit on that plus not getting enough sodium or potassium, that's a recipe for disaster no matter what diet you're on. Most people don't realize keto already flushes out electrolytes, so adding hard exercise without extra salt is just asking for trouble. Glad she got it sorted out though, it's wild how long it can take to bounce back when you mess with your body's basic chemistry like that.
