The day I sliced my finger open in pastry class and still got the highest mark on the croissant test
My hand was bandaged up to my wrist but the instructor said my lamination was perfect because I finally let the butter rest long enough, has anyone else had a disaster turn into a win like that?

Wait, you sliced your finger open to the point of needing a bandage up to your wrist? How did you not pass out from the blood or get sent to the hospital? Pastry class sounds brutal if you're just casually chopping through your hand and then finishing a croissant test. Honestly though, if the lesson was that the butter needs to rest longer, I guess the injury forced you to slow down and actually pay attention to the process. Still, I admire the dedication because most people would be crying in the ER not rolling out dough one-handed.

Nope. Not me. I would've been out the door first chance. Blood makes me queasy. Can't even watch those medical shows. Respect for finishing the croissant though. Butter needs rest or not, I'm not risking my fingers for laminated dough.

Man it's wild how we'll push through the dumbest stuff just to prove a point to ourselves. That's totally a thing in life though people will ignore common sense just to finish something they started even if it's a bad idea. Props for committing to the croissant but I'd definitely draw the line at stab wounds for pastry.
