The self-checkout at a 7-Eleven in Reno made me feel like a criminal

Stopped for gas and a coffee around 10 PM last week. Grabbed a bag of chips too. Self-checkout screen asked for my ID for the chips. Chips. Not beer, not cold medicine. Plain Lay's. The machine wanted my birth date and then flashed a message about age verification. I stood there holding my wallet, half expecting a manager to come over. It took 3 tries to get it to accept my year because the touchscreen was laggy. By the end I just wanted to leave the chips on the counter and walk out. Has anyone else gotten flagged for something completely harmless at a self-checkout? What's the weirdest item that triggered an ID check for you?
