Unpopular opinion: the free water at the trailhead in Sedona beats the $4 smartwater at the gas station
Was hiking Bell Rock last Saturday and hit the water fountain by the parking lot around mile 3. That water was cold and tasted clean, better than the $4 bottle I grabbed at the Shell on 179 on my way in. Half the people there were filling up old jugs and the other half walked right past it to buy bottles from a cooler someone was selling out of a truck. I get wanting convenience but paying 4 bucks for the same thing when the fountain is 20 feet away seems wild to me. My buddy says bottled is safer because you never know what's in park water but I drank it all day and felt fine. What do you all think, is the fountain water a legit option or am I just being cheap?
Park fountains get tested way more than you'd think, they have to. That truck selling bottles out of a cooler is way sketchier than any fountain. Been drinking trailhead water for years and never had a problem.
