Digital receipts sounded great until they cost me a client in Hamtramck

Honestly, I used to preach going paperless to every shop owner I knew. Switched my whole office over to emailed invoices and QR codes back in 2021, figured it was the modern way. Then last spring a catering client in Hamtramck needed a printed receipt for their accountant, and my system couldn't pull up the original file after their email bounced. I spent three days digging through backups while they threatened to pull a $4,000 order. Now I keep a physical binder with carbon copies for every job over $500, plus the digital stuff. It feels backwards and takes up shelf space, but nobody questions a hard copy. Has anyone else gone back to paper after a tech failure bit them? I'm curious if I'm the only one who got burned this bad.
