Had a power surge take out our point of sale system during a Saturday lunch rush at the Corktown spot.

Used to think surge protectors were enough for a computer. Watching a restaurant lose its whole POS system mid-rush changed my mind. Now I'm a true believer in a proper battery backup unit. That thing gives you the few minutes you need to shut down safely and save your data.

Ever see what happens when a POS system crashes during a dinner rush? It's not just about losing an order. The whole workflow stops, servers can't print checks, and you can't process cards. That data loss is real, like messed up inventory and missing sales records. A battery backup isn't just for the computer, it's for keeping the whole business running smoothly through a hiccup.

Shut down safely" seems a bit dramatic for a cash register. Murphy.aaron, it's just lunch orders, not launching a rocket. A quick reboot and you're back in business.

Wow. I used to totally blow that off too. Thought battery backups were overkill for a register. Then our whole system went dark during a Friday fish fry and I got it real quick.
