Heard a story about a Corktown hardware store that's been there since 1972

I was getting coffee at a place on Michigan Avenue and overheard two older guys talking. One said his father opened the store with a $5,000 loan and kept the same sign out front for fifty years. It made me think about how many of us now feel pressure to rebrand every few years just to stay visible. Do you find that kind of long-term consistency is still valued by customers here?

Wow, that's actually really cool. I mean, I'd trust a place like that way more than some shop that changes its look every year. Feels more real, you know?

My buddy swears by this little shoe repair spot his grandpa used to go to. They still have the same faded awning and the owner knows him by name. He says that trust is worth more than any fancy new sign.

Man, that hits home. @marywilson, my barber is the same way, same shop for forty years. That kind of history just builds a feeling you can't buy with a new paint job. It makes going there mean something more.
