I finally chose a local print shop over online printing for my business cards

Local shops are the way to go for business cards. Last time I did it, the owner let me sit down with a magnifying glass to compare the foil stamping on two different card stocks. Ended up going with a thick matte finish that felt like quality cardboard, and he even threw in a free digital proof cleanup of my logo (which had weird pixelation from my old file). The turnaround was just 3 days too, which beat every online quote I got. Definitely worth the extra few bucks to have someone who cares about the paper in your hand.

That's a solid move honestly. I went local for my cards last year and the paper quality was way better than anything I got from an online mill. The guy at the shop even let me feel a dozen different stocks before I picked one.

Read an article recently that said something like 80% of business cards get thrown out in a week. But the ones with nice thick stock and good texture? People keep those. Your story about the foil stamping comparison just proves it. The sensory part matters way more than people think.
