Just found out the city is charging new business owners a $850 licensing fee I never saw coming

Stumbled on a buried clause on the Detroit city website yesterday that says any new retail shop pays that fee upfront before they even open, so has anyone else gotten blindsided by hidden startup costs like this?

Yeah, "wait and see" is pretty solid advice (unless you're waiting to see if the tacos are actually spicy).
