Sat in on a landlord meeting at a shop on Michigan Ave and realized my lease was the problem all along
I stopped by a buddy's print shop on Michigan Ave in Detroit last month for coffee and he had his landlord there going over the lease line by line. The landlord said something simple, that he only kept tenants who called him about problems in the first year instead of waiting. My own lease on my shop near Eastern Market is a mess and I just let it sit for 4 years without asking for one thing. So I brought my lease to a lawyer the next Tuesday and turns out I was paying $340 a month for a loading dock I share with two other guys. Any other owners here ever renegotiate with their landlord after years of just signing whatever they slid across the table?
