Spent 3 months fighting with the city over a single business license renewal

I run a small café in Corktown and my license renewal got held up because they said my zoning paperwork was from 2019 not 2020. Turns out their system had the wrong file scanned in and nobody told me for 6 weeks. I called the planning department 8 times and got transferred to 4 different people before someone finally fixed it. Has anyone else had to chase down a simple renewal for that long in Detroit?

Heard this from a buddy who runs a barbershop in Hamtramck. Took him 4 months and a city council member's office call to get his permit unstuck.
