That handwritten sign place nailed it. Even got the old-school paper wrapper and everything, like they never got the memo about fancy upgrades.

Try the place two stalls down from the main entrance, the one with the handwritten sign. They still do the classic egg and cheese on a proper kaiser roll, none of that brioche nonsense. Got one last week and it was exactly how I remembered them from 2018 before everyone started adding arugula and truffle oil. Just ask them to toast the roll extra dark if you want it like the old days.

Totally feel you on this lol. It's so rare to find a place that still gets the basics right without trying to fancy it up. The extra dark toast tip is clutch too, that's the real secret.
