That cash-only rule at Eastern Market made me rethink my pricing
I was standing in line at a produce stand on Gratiot last Saturday and the guy in front of me asked if they take cards. The owner pointed to this faded sign that said CASH ONLY and laughed, said he saves like $400 a month in fees. I stood there doing the math on my own shop over on Michigan Ave, I probably eat $250 to $300 in processing fees every single month. All this time I was scared to switch to cash only because I thought customers would just walk away. But watching that guy handle a whole line of people with zero issues, nobody even blinked. Made me wonder if my fear of change was costing me more than any lost sale ever would. Anyone else out there actually try going cash only or at least offer a discount for it?

Figured I was in the same boat as you. I thought everyone would bail if I told them cash only, like it was some kind of insult or something. But honestly, seeing that line move and nobody caring kind of flipped a switch for me. I've been doing the math all week and those fees add up way faster than I ever wanted to admit. Now I'm thinking about trying it out on my slowest days just to test the waters, see if people actually care or if it's all in my head.
