That popup market I tried last spring was a total ghost town

I booked a booth at the Eastern Market popup in May thinking I'd clear some inventory from my shop, but I sold maybe three items in six hours. Turned out the organizer advertised on Facebook only and nobody under 60 even saw the event. Has anyone else dealt with a market that looked promising on paper but just had zero foot traffic?

Honestly, I think this whole thing is part of a bigger pattern where people just assume the cheapest advertising method will work. Those Facebook posts only reach the same 50 people who already know about the market, not new shoppers. It's like when a local band only posts their show on Instagram stories and then wonders why nobody shows up. The organizer probably spent zero dollars on flyers, local radio spots, or even a simple sign near the venue. Tbh, if you're gonna sell stuff in person, you gotta meet people where they actually are, not where it's easiest for you. Ngl, I've seen this same mistake at farmers markets and craft fairs for years now.

300 dollars for a booth fee at a weekend market and they cant spring for a few paper signs on telephone poles a mile away. Is it really that hard to just tape something up?

Wait, THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS for a booth fee? And they couldn't even bother to put up a single sign? That's insane. I'd be so mad if I paid that much and saw zero effort from the organizer.
