Used to handle payroll for my 12 employees with paper checks every Friday - total nightmare

Switched to a digital payroll service about 8 months ago after I messed up taxes twice and almost got fined $3,000. Now it takes me 10 minutes instead of 3 hours, but I miss the personal touch of handing people their checks. Anyone else go digital and feel like it changed how your team sees you?

Because I feel like most of us don't have time to stand around by the coffee machine having heart-to-hearts every week. My Friday bank runs and check handouts forced me to slow down and talk to people. Now I'm just clicking buttons in my office with the door shut. Feels like I traded one kind of connection for zero connection. How long did it take before those coffee machine chats felt natural instead of awkward?
