Back in '09 at a shop in Billings, a blown injector cup taught me the hard way

I was working on a 6.0 Powerstroke at a dealer in Billings and had a injector cup that just would not seal. After three tries and a lot of cussing, an old timer walked over and showed me how to check the cup bore with a mic and feeler gauge. That ten minute lesson saved me probably 20 hours of warranty comebacks over the next year. Any of you guys still using that old school method or is it all bore scopes now?

I mean that's how it always goes right? The old school stuff sticks with you way longer than the fancy new tools. Maybe it's just me but seems like the simple methods are the ones that actually save your bacon in the long run.

Don't you find that the stuff you learned by just doing it sticks in your bones better than anything you read in a manual... same thing with me, the old ways always seem to pull through when the new gadgets let me down.

Oh totally lol, it's like how I can never remember directions someone told me but I'll never forget the route I got lost taking the first time! It's just how our brains work, trial and error sticks way better than just reading about it.
