Finally tried Snap-on impact sockets after swearing by my Harbor Freight set for years

I stripped a 15mm bolt on a Cummins ISX last week and borrowed a buddy's Snap-on to get it off, now I'm out $200 and can't go back. Has anyone else had a brand totally change how you work?

Man my whole toolbox is a mix of stuff like that now. I had a cheap impact gun from Amazon that would barely loosen lug nuts on my F-150, finally borrowed a Milwaukee M18 Fuel and it was like night and day. First job with it I zipped off a seized caliper bracket bolt in seconds, the old one would have just smoked and clicked. Now I've got three Milwaukee tools and I'm slowly replacing everything else. It's not just the sockets or the power, it's how the tool feels in your hand and the confidence you get knowing it won't let you down halfway through a job. Some brands just earn that trust after one good experience and you can't go back.

Did I ever think I'd drop that much on a socket set? No. But after fighting with my old Craftsman ones on a frozen bolt last month, I get it now. Sometimes you just need the tool that actually works.

I read somewhere that Snap-On spends more on R&D than some car companies do, so you're really paying for the engineering behind it.
