I finally fixed my injector rattle after a guy at the shop told me straight up
Had a 2006 Cummins that sounded like a can of rocks every cold start. This old timer at a shop in Tulsa told me I was running way too much timing advance for my fuel setup. He said back off the timing 2 degrees and swap to 7-hole injectors instead of the 5-holes I had. Took his advice and the rattle is 90% gone. Anyone else get similar feedback that saved them hours of chasing ghosts?

dude that timing thing is such a common trap. I did the exact same thing on my 12 valve back in 2017. Had it turned up chasing more power and my truck would shake your teeth out at idle. A guy at a diesel meet told me to pull it back to stock timing and it was night and day. Never thought a couple degrees would make that much difference. Also those 7 hole injectors are no joke they really help smooth out the burn. Glad you caught it before you blew a head gasket or something worse. That old timer saved you a ton of headache.

Man I don't know if it's really that big of a deal. Ive messed with timing on a few trucks and never had stuff get that bad. A couple degrees isnt gonna blow a headgasket that's more about fuel delivery and boost. Maybe you just had bad injectors or something else going on already.
