Stopped by an old shop outside Tulsa last week...
I was driving through Oklahoma and pulled into a little diesel shop off Route 66. The owner was still using a 1970s Sun machine to tune pumps, and he had it covered in stickers from every truck stop from here to California. Made me think about how much we rely on laptops now instead of just listening to the engine.

Oh man, that Sun machine sticker collection sounds incredible! (I've seen a few of those old setups rusting away in barns, always a shame.) There's just something about mechanical stuff you can hear and feel versus staring at a laptop screen full of error codes. I miss when you could pop the hood and actually diagnose a problem by ear instead of plugging in a scanner. Those old-timers could tell you what was wrong just by the way the engine coughed on a cold start.

Those old guys were guessing half the time, modern scanners save hours.

Wait, a 1970s Sun machine still in use? That thing has to be older than half the trucks on the road these days, @thomas_torres. I mean, the sticker collection alone would be worth stopping for, but a working one is wild.
