That fuel rail pressure code had me chasing ghosts for 3 days

Truck came in with a P0087 under load, a 2017 Freightliner Cascadia with a DD15 in Phoenix. I replaced the lift pump, checked the filters, and even swapped the fuel pressure sensor before I found the real issue, a worn camshaft lobe on the injection pump drive. How long do you guys usually spend on a mystery fuel supply code before you start pulling the valve cover?
