That mechanic in Tulsa told me to skip the coolant flush on my 6.7

Guy at a shop in Tulsa said just drain and fill it every 30k instead of a full flush. Been doing it for 2 years now and my temps stay rock solid. Anyone else run into this debate about flushes on high-mileage engines?

That 30k drain and fill is honestly probably fine. I once tried to "save money" on my own truck and ended up flushing the damn thing with a garden hose and dish soap. Let's just say my coolant looked like a strawberry milkshake for three months. Your guy in Tulsa sounds like he knows what he's talking about. For a 6.7, the risk of stirring up years of sediment with a full flush is way higher than just a couple gallons of fresh Dexcool. Your mileage may vary but I'd stick with his advice till you see a reason not to.

Your "strawberry milkshake" line got me good. But honestly, that's the whole deal with these high mileage diesels. Folks think more is better and end up making a mess. The sediment is basically structural at a certain point. Leave it alone unless you got a real problem.

Bet the sediment's actually keeping that water pump sealed.
