Wasted $150 on a cheap knockoff torque wrench that snapped on a Duramax head bolt

Exactly, that's the kind of job where a cheap tool becomes a real safety issue. When that wrench let go, you're lucky it just broke and didn't send a piece of metal flying. Head bolts need real precision, not just some random click. Saving fifty bucks isn't worth the risk of ruining a several thousand dollar engine block.

Ever have that moment where a cheap tool just feels wrong in your hand before it even breaks? I learned my lesson after a no-name torque wrench gave me a different reading every time I checked it. Now I just borrow the good one from my uncle's shop for engine work, because you're totally right, guessing on head bolts is a great way to turn a repair into a boat anchor.

Turning a repair into a boat anchor" is putting it nicely. That wrench didn't just break, it probably gave up and filed for divorce first. You bought a precision instrument from the same people who make those gas station sunglasses. At least now you have a very expensive, very specific paperweight.
