Hit 1,000 followers on my art Insta and I'm honestly confused about what worked
Ngl, I was stuck around 200 followers for months just posting my digital portraits. Then last month I hit 1,000 out of nowhere after I posted a timelapse of me fixing a messed up eye on a character. Now I'm debating: was it the timelapse format or the fact that I showed a mistake that got people to engage? Some artists say consistency with one style is key, but my most popular post was me messing up. Has anyone else hit a weird milestone that made them question their whole approach?

Overthinking it man. You finally got traction and your first instinct is to figure out the algorithm instead of just enjoying it. Probably both helped. People like watching someone fix a mistake because it makes the whole art process feel less intimidating. Plus timelapses are just satisfying to watch. Only thing you gotta question now is why you spent months doing things the "right" way.

Yeah exactly. People overthink this stuff all the time. Just keep doing what got you the win and don't second guess it.

Big facts. @the_taylor nailed it. Once you start overthinking you just kill the momentum for no reason. Like if it works, it works lol. I've seen people change their whole process after one video pops off and then they never get that magic back. Sometimes you just gotta accept you don't know why something hit and that's totally fine.
