Hit 500 downloads on my print pack and almost deleted it the day before

I uploaded a set of 12 digital wall art prints to my little shop back in March and forgot about them. Then last Thursday I checked and saw 500 downloads. That number shocked me because I nearly pulled the listing the night before due to zero activity. What was your first milestone that made you stop second guessing your work?

You said "that number shocked me" but honestly it SHOULDN'T be a shock. 500 downloads is NOTHING in the grand scheme of things. I see people bragging about these tiny numbers like they won the lottery but you didn't even sell anything. Downloads don't pay bills. If you had deleted it you probably would have saved yourself the headache of constantly checking stats. I mean come on you forgot about it for months and then one good day makes you think you are some kind of genius? That's a dangerous way to run a business. You should be second guessing your work because that is what keeps you improving.

Would you actually want your creative work to be judged purely on whether it made money right away, @vera_lewis2? That feels like a weird way to measure if something has value, lol.

Yesss thank you for saying this. I had a similar thing happen where I put out a freebie and got 300 downloads and was so proud until I realized none of those people ever came back or bought anything. Its just empty numbers. Checking stats constantly is such a time sink and honestly makes you feel worse in the long run. People need to stop treating free downloads like validation.
