I think the push for 'perfect' digital art is hurting new artists
Honestly, I saw a huge change in my friend's work over the last 6 months. She used to post fun, messy sketches full of energy. Now everything is super polished and looks like it was made in a factory, because she feels she needs to match the top posts here. Ngl, it's the pressure from seeing endless 'flawless' pieces that did it. Has anyone else seen a friend's style get worse because they're chasing trends instead of fun?

My art teacher says we're losing the rough drafts that show how an artist really learns.

Yeah chasing trends instead of fun is a real trap. I tell my friends to keep a private sketchbook just for messy stuff, no one ever sees it. Helps you remember why you started.

Totally get that, saw the same thing happen to my cousin. He used to make these weird little comics with so much personality, and now his feed is just boring portraits that look exactly like everyone else's. Feels like the soul got polished right out of it, all for some extra likes. That pressure to be perfect just kills the fun and makes everything look the same.
