My layers finally cooperated after weeks of frustration

I couldn't get my digital painting to look smooth no matter what I did. Then I switched to a different brush and adjusted the flow, and it clicked. What do you do when your brushes just won't behave?

Why limit yourself to one tool? Switching brushes fixed your problem, so keep experimenting.

Stick with one brush until you get good with it. Changing tools just puts off learning how to use them right.

Totally, my buddy kept switching brushes and never improved.

Wendy's point about sticking with one brush reminds me of learning to drive stick shift. My dad made me use his old truck for months, grinding gears until the motion became automatic. That muscle memory thing is real. Once I could drive that clunky thing, hopping into any other car felt easy. Sometimes you need to get good with a stubborn tool before the fancy ones make sense.
