Serious question, remember when everyone's digital art had that super glossy, plastic look around 2015?

A mentor in an online class told me my work looked 'slick but soulless' and pushed me to add texture brushes and subtle grain, which completely changed how I finish pieces now, so what's one piece of critique that actually improved your process?

Funny enough, a teacher once said my stuff looked too clean and perfect. Used to hate that, but now I get it. Adding some mess actually makes things feel more real.

What was the best piece of advice you ever got?

Honestly, "don't take criticism from someone you wouldn't take advice from.

Guess I should stop letting my cat critique my cooking then.
