Burned $500 on a Facebook ads course that told me nothing new
I bought this course from some guy who claimed he ran a 7 figure agency. It was $500 and basically just said boost your best posts and use lookalike audiences. I could have gotten that from a free YouTube video. What I actually needed was someone to show me how to track actual conversions without messing up the pixel. Anyone else get fooled by a pricey course that was just basic stuff?

Hang on, let me play the other side for a second. If the info was really that basic, why'd you pay $500 without checking the refund policy or looking up the guy's actual clients? A lot of those "basic" strategies work fine, people just skip the boring part of actually testing them for months. Maybe the real value wasn't the tactics but having someone tell you to stop overcomplicating things and just run the damn ads. And tracking conversions properly isn't something you learn from a course anyway, that's just trial and error plus reading Facebook's own docs for free.

yeah but hold up, the comment about tracking conversions being something you just have to figure out through trial and error isn't quite right. Facebook literally has a whole section in their help center that walks you through pixel setup step by step, it's not that hard to follow if you take an hour to read it. I think the real issue is most people skip reading documentation and just want someone to hold their hand through it. The pixel setup is actually the one thing a course SHOULD teach you right, because getting that wrong means you're flying blind no matter how good your ads are.

The free YouTube tutorials usually teach the real strategy while paid courses sell you the hype.
