Elm Street agency's generic SEO is a waste for local shops

Local searches need personal touch, not bulk keywords.

How do you even make those generic keyword lists work for a real neighborhood? I totally used to believe that stuff about volume and ranking, but watching my cousin's bakery try it was a disaster. People searching for "best birthday cake" don't care if you're in the right city, they need to feel like you're on their block. That fake, boilerplate content just kills any local trust. Now I'm convinced you're right, it has to be genuine and hyper local to matter at all.

My buddy's bike shop tried that generic keyword stuff for months and got nowhere. He finally started writing about fixing kids' bikes at the park by the old library and which trails get muddy first in spring, just normal neighborhood stuff. @the_wyatt is onto something, because his phone started ringing with people who actually lived nearby. That fake content makes a place feel like a ghost town online. You gotta talk about the real spots people know.

But isn't some generic info still useful for new people moving to the area?

Honestly saw this with my old gym. They kept posting about "top fitness tips" but everyone just wanted to know if the AC was fixed yet or if the 6am class was still packed. Started talking about that stuff and people actually showed up.
