Had a chat with a client who runs a small bakery about why she spends more on Facebook ads than Google ads and it made me realize I've been overcomplicating targeting for local businesses.
She just said 'my customers are moms on their phones, not people searching for me' and that simple line hit different because it made me rethink how I pitch audiences to local service clients - has anyone else had a client casually point out a blind spot in your whole strategy?

Agree with corablack on that, but I used to think billboards mattered more and she proved me wrong.

Is this really some deep revelation though? Moms on their phones is about as generic a target as "people who breathe." The real blind spot would have been if she was spending on billboards for a bakery no one drives past.

Disagree completely. Billboards for a bakery nobody drives past at least picks a fight with a specific problem. Moms on their phones is hitting the biggest, most obvious traffic source in 2025. People scroll while feeding kids, waiting at pickup, sitting at soccer practice. That's not generic, that's where the eyes actually are.
