Honestly, I ran Facebook ads for a local bakery for 6 months before I saw the real problem
I used to just boost posts with a small budget and hope for the best, maybe get a few likes. Then a client in Springfield showed me their Google Analytics, and their site traffic from my ads was basically zero. I switched to building proper landing pages for each ad and tracking conversions with the Facebook pixel. Now I can see exactly which ad led to a cake order, not just a click. Anyone else find that just boosting posts is a total waste of money for small businesses?

Yeah that's so true, it's like the whole "build it and they will come" thing is a total myth online lol. You see it everywhere, not just ads, like people just putting stuff out there with no real plan to actually connect it to a result. I get what @mary_west is saying about awareness, but for a small shop, awareness that doesn't lead to someone walking in the door or buying a cake might as well be nothing. It's all about closing the loop, otherwise you're just talking to yourself.

Boosting posts works fine for brand awareness though, especially when you're just starting out.

Ugh, boosted a post once and got zero real replies. Just felt like shouting into a void.

Right?! I threw like $50 at a boosted post once and got crickets. It felt like I was just feeding the algorithm for no reason.
