I finally spent $200 on a proper keyword research tool and it paid off in 2 weeks
Was using free stuff and Google Keyword Planner for like a year. Decided to bite the bullet and get a real tool with actual search volume data and competitor analysis. Cost me $200 for the month but I landed a client who needed local SEO for their plumbing business in Austin. Their old agency was ranking on garbage terms. I found 3 high intent keywords with low competition and they got 4 calls in the first week. Anyone else found a tool that actually made them money fast or was it a waste?

The $200 Semrush trial I did last year brought me 3 new clients in the first month alone just from spying on their competitors' weak spots. Google Keyword Planner gives you ranges that might as well be made up compared to the real numbers you get from paid tools. That Austin plumbing win is exactly the kind of fast payoff that makes the upfront cost feel stupid cheap in hindsight.

Tbh that Austin plumbing story nails something I've been noticing all over the place lately. People are scared to spend money on good tools even when the free version is clearly holding them back, and it's the same pattern in every field. Like my buddy who owns a landscaping company finally bought a decent truck instead of patching up his old one, and he doubled his route in a month because he wasn't breaking down all the time. The cheap way costs you more in the long run every single time, and that $200 rule applies to just about anything if you actually use it right.

Honestly that's awesome to hear man. Ngl I was skeptical at first about paying for keywords too but I did the same thing with a cheaper tool for my own site and it paid off way faster than I expected. Tbh the free stuff is fine for basics but you miss so much real data with Google Keyword Planner it's almost useless. When you get actual search volumes and see what competitors are ranking for it's like a whole new world opens up. Glad it worked out for you seriously.
